The Education team organise a termly programme of workshops which are available to all 200 schools across East Lancashire. This programme offers a wide range of artists including writers, poets, dancers, musicians and visual artists. Each term a brochure is sent out to the schools offering workshops at a subsidised rate which are then given on a first come first serve basis. Click here to see the calendar of events for this term. To find out more information about any activities contact David Smith or Hannah Kidd on 01282 421986 or email David or Hannah.
From time to time we dedicate our programme to a specific art form. This has led to our bi-annual Kicking Leaves Children’s Literature Festival and the Summer 07 term which was dedicated to dance.
Education Team as resource
As well as our independent programme of workshops, the education team is happy to support and be resource schools offering advice and information, training and project management.
We offer talks on Mid Pennine Arts as an arts business, careers in the arts, public art with a focus on the successful ‘Panopticons’ project and many other areas of our work.
Small Schools
The Education Team is currently working with two schools clusters who are working with each other to make the most of their arts provision as well as seeking funding specifically for arts projects.
Over the last 12 months we have supported clusters to raise more than £12,000 to engage artists on a multicultural project exploring identity and a literacy project exploring the development of story-boards for creative writing through illustration.
