About Us

Mid Pennine Arts

Mid Pennine Arts is a driving force for the arts in Pennine Lancashire, recognised nationally for devising and delivering exemplary integrated arts programmes that inspire, raise aspirations and enrich lives. We bring art, people and places together to transform perceptions and change lives.

Created as a partnership, we develop our most successful work through partnerships, networks and creative collaborations. Our work is people-centred, people-friendly, celebrates diversity and promotes equality of opportunity for all. We embody a spirit of discovery and build a dimension of creative learning into all our projects. We always strive for the best possible creative results and the most ambitious outcomes. We aim to break new ground in the content, context and the outcomes of our work.

We work primarily in Pennine Lancashire but we will work anywhere and have current projects running in West Yorkshire and in West Lancashire.  We provide a strategic overview of the arts and work in partnership with communities, artists, local service providers and public sector organisations to develop best practice in arts consultation projects.  We have a diverse range of projects at any one time and host contemporary exhibitions throughout the year, using Pennine Lancashire as our gallery.

We work extensively with all the primary, secondary and further education establishments in Pennine Lancashire. We are best known for the Panipticons, spectacular arts installations that illustrate some outstanding countryside in Pennine Lancashire that have come to define our area.

We will celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2016. As far as we know there is no other organisation that fulfills a similar role, in any respect, anywhere else in the UK.
