Mid Pennine Arts was formed 40 years ago to fill the cultural gap that existed in East Lancashire at the time.  As far as we know there is no other organisation that fulfills anything like a similar role anywhere else in the UK.

We work primarily in the four districts of East Lancashire; Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle and Rossendale; and the township of Todmorden, although a number of recent projects have spilled over the boundaries.  We provide a strategic overview of the arts and work in partnership with local service providers and regeneration organisations to develop best practice in arts consultation projects.  We have a diverse range of projects at any one time and host contemporary exhibitions throughout the year in our gallery space.

We have an education department that works extensively with all the primary, secondary and further education establishments in East Lancashire.

We are the project co-ordinators for the large scale Panopticons and Land projects and we work in partnership with local community groups to put on festivals and events throughout the year.
