We are very fortunate to have the Mid Pennine Gallery as a resource and are keen to invite schools in to use the space in a range of different ways:
Gallery Workshops
A regular aspect of the Education programme is to organise a number of workshops during which classes work with professional artists exploring current exhibitions and then creating their own work. This work is often then exhibited in the Mid Pennine C-Space before being returned to the school for exhibiting.
Whilst we realise that transport can be a deterrent to such trips we are keen to work with schools and make such trips affordable.
Gallery Events
We often hold events in the Gallery which you may feel are relevant to your school. In particular we now hold Artist in Residence days with each exhibition. On these days groups and members are invited to come into the Gallery to see Artists working and chat infomally to them. The artists will either be directly involved in the exhibition or their work will complement the subject.

Student Exhibitions
This year the work will be exhibited from 5th June – 18th July 2009 and the work will be open to both Mainstream and Special Needs Secondary Schools.

Gallery Space
We are always keen for school groups to visit the Gallery and would be happy to support teaching staff if they wished to organise a trip independently of our workshops. This may include a wander round the exhibition (see list of forthcoming exhibitions) a discussion led by the Visual Arts Officer or Education Team or space in which to sketch and create artwork inspired by the exhibits.
We offer talks on Mid Pennine Arts as an arts business, careers in the arts, public art with a focus on the successful ‘Panopticons’ project and many other areas of our work.
The Gallery is also available on Mondays and Tuesdays for school to use independently for meetings and training events.
